I have a brand new miniature original painting to share with you this morning. I had so much fun painting all of the mushrooms in the Alice In Wonderland painting that I completed this week for the Oscars Gift Lounge that I just had to do a miniature painting dedicated to a mushroom!

This precious little painting is all framed and ready to be displayed. The butterfly just landed on the beautiful mushroom. Little tiny fairies are dancing all around enjoying this delicate butterfly that came to visit.

The Past Is Now The Future Again

I'm working on the Alice In Wonderland painting that I'll presenting in Beverly Hills next month. I'm just starting to paint the white rabbit and was digging around for some research photos in my old photo albums. You see, I used to have a white rabbit! Here I am with my little white bunny. Who knew I would be creating a wonderful painting using my little bunny I had when I was only 5 for a model! I wish I could whisper into this little girl's ear and tell her all the wonderful and exciting adventures she will have.

Oscars - A Celebration Of Film by Shawna Erback

For those of you who don't know yet, I've been invited into the VIP Wow Creations Gifting Suite in Beverly Hills next month to present my artwork to the nominees and stars during Oscar week. My team has been very busy getting things ready and I have been extremely busy painting. My collection for the lounge guests will be A Celebration Of Film. There will be four paintings. Lounge guests will pick their favorite giclee print of the four.

The first painting I'm working on is Little Red Riding Hood.

This painting fits my theme so perfectly. It will have a gothic fantasy feeling that I love to paint so much! I already had the research photos! I took my kids horseback riding one day (always have my camera with me because who knows!) and it so happens, the ranch had a couple of Wolf/Dog crosses that they had rescued from an organization. These were beautiful animals and I could not take my eyes off of them the whole time! I've been working on this painting all day and will have some works in progress tomorrow showing the painting from start to finish.

This adorable painting is framed and all ready for display! The cute little fairy is getting her favorite tree all ready for Christmas. This painting reminds me of the first Christmas tree my husband and I had when we first got married 16 years ago! We didn't have much money and picked out the best tree we could afford, it looked pretty much like this tree in the painting and I loved it! I made it look beautiful just like this fairy.

A Christmas To Remember

I'm in love with how the original painting turned out. I didn't have a chance to create a poppy painting for Remembrance Day this year so I included poppies into this beautiful winter scene. The grapes are a bit frozen, I'll bet they will make a great ice wine! Poppies are one of my favorite flowers to paint and I gave them a whimsical touch. I think the name A Christmas To Remember is perfect for this beautiful artwork.

I have been invited into the WOW! Creations VIP Gift Suite to present my artwork to over 100 Movie Stars, VIP's and talent during Oscar week in Beverly Hills next month.

That's right, the Academy Awards!

It is an honor to be chosen for this opportunity. During the next few months my team will be getting ready! I will be creating original paintings for this event and guests will be able to choose their favorite print as my gift.

I'm totally in love with this painting. The hummingbird is so pretty and I love how he turned out! He's taking a drink from the lotus flower offered by the little fairy. Delicate bubbles full of hopes and dreams are floating all around and are sparkling in the moonlight. My Mom has tons of little hummingbirds in her garden and they will actually come and sit on our fingers while they are taking a drink from her feeder. Such trust in those little tiny birds :)

My Interviews In The Trail Times

I've been in many publications and interviews over the years but I have to say that these interviews by Tessa Clayton from the Trail Times are two of the best. It's nice when a reporter takes the time to learn about you so that they can ask really good questions. So often an artist is asked the same old questions...where do you get your inspiration from, what artist from the past do you relate to most...so it's refreshing to have an article published that really gets you as an artist. I couldn't have written these better myself. It really shows the top of the line quality of the reporter. Thanks Tessa and thank you Trail Times for the features.

CCMA's Canadian Country Music Awards Only 3 Weeks Away!

I can't believe how fast time is going by! In just a few weeks I'll be at the Canadian Country Music Awards Gift Lounge presenting my art to the talent and celeb's. There are going to be so many amazing people there and I can't wait to build brand new relationships and introduce my art to the best of the best. Am I nervous? More excited than nervous right now (It's easy to say that now while I'm miles and miles away haha) but I know the butterflies of excitement will take over any nerves as each day brings me closer.

The CCMA just announced the gift lounge sponsors hosted by Fronte & Sentre Communications in this press release. They also mentioned my art right in their release which I thought was wonderful and thoughtful! View Release Here

I'm still working on the exclusive piece of artwork that will be presented to guests and I've made my selection of all the artwork that will be presented.

One of the chosen prints will be Dreams Before I Awake. I often have contests for my collectors and fans on my Facebook fan page and this painting was inspired by a fan that got to tell me what to paint. I thought it would be fitting to include this piece and take a bit of my fans/collectors with me to share in this experience :)

Project Osprey - New Original Painting Research

If you have been following my Facebook Fan Page you know that I've been doing lots of research for a new project that is coming up featuring Ospreys. I've been shooting video and and taking lots of photos of a nest just over an hour away from my studio. What is really neat about this particular nest is that it is only accessible by boat, and since the lake water is so high I can get to about 4 feet away from the nest to really see the details of the beautiful raptors.

I took this photo about 6 feet away with my phone! The mother had just flown out of the nest. The Osprey babies were a bit leery of us at first but as we watched them quietly for a while, they relaxed and gave me some really great shots! These babies can't fly yet! I've been watching them all summer and hope that I'll be there when they take their first flights.

There is also an Eagle's nest nearby and we got to watch the baby Eagle with it's mother taking its first flights! The baby Eagle got so close to us that we could feel the wind from it's wings! Amazing! I'll be starting the set of paintings in September after I get a little more research done :) I hope you enjoy this photo!

New Studio Update

We've been working into the night and finally have all the painting done. We started the new floors last night but didn't get finished so we will be finishing up today. It's looking so good and I can't wait to get into my new space! I was just talking about how it will be so nice to have a proper packaging and printing area and now I won't have to package paintings on my kitchen floor! Yay! Super excited :) I'll be down there again this afternoon (with donuts!) so if anyone local wants to come in for a peek, you are more than welcome!

That's right, I've rented a space for my new studio. I've been outgrowing my studio in my home which some of you know is just my spare room off my kitchen. Now I'll have a space downtown to work! I'm very excited because I'll have tons of room to get my orders done for my stores! Clients can come in anytime without an appointment to see what I'm up to!

There's lots of reno's to do to get it up and running so I'm not sure what the grand opening date will be. I still have to work and get orders and custom paintings done so I'll only be down at the new studio fixing things up when I can get away from my regular work (I don't want to fall behind!)

New Original Painting - My First Still Life by Shawna Erback

I just completed my very first still life! Last night I gave my husband 10 seconds to tell me what to paint today and he said "a glass of wine with a yellow daisy". At first I was annoyed....hellooo, I'm a fantasy dreamscape artist, not a still life artist! But then I warmed up to the idea.

While I was painting, I realized that he chose two things that I really really appreciate. I love red wine and every day after work, I pour a glass and sit and relax for a few minutes and reflect on my day. I really look forward to it. I also love daisies as you can tell because lots of my paintings showcase daisies.

So then, as I was coming to the completion of the painting, I realized something! I painted the daisy wrapped around the wine glass and the thought came to me... the wine glass represents everything that I love in my life and I am the daisy embracing it. The long winding stem reminds me that there are still wonderful things to look forward to and that I just need to be patient and let the road take it's course. Ok, I'm officially in love with this still life! I hope you enjoy it too!

Good morning! Here is today's new painting! The fairy in this painting is stunning, I hope you fall in love with her! I loved painting her delicate wings. She's sitting on a whimsical tree looking off into the distance with little fireflies dancing around her (I'm sure there are some tiny little fairies flying around too!). Good morning! The sun was shining here yesterday and it took me back to my last trip to California. I love California, it's my favorite place to go. I love everything about it, the people are always so friendly and the blowing palm trees and beaches are gorgeous! One thing about California that I LOVE is the smell, fragrant flowers everywhere and when the sun hits them...oh my! And of course my absolute top place to visit....this won't come as a surprise...Disneyland! So today's painting is in celebration of California :) :)

Good morning! I have a new painting for you today. This is an 8x10 original painting, acrylic on canvas panel (this will slide into a standard frame). This painting is so pretty in person, the colors really stand out. The little girl is standing under a willow tree with little hearts growing like flowers. When I was little, I had a huge willow tree that I used to swing on like Tarzan and right now my bleeding heart plant is just starting to come out of the ground so I combined the two and voila!

I finished this custom painting for a client yesterday. It turned out so beautiful! The fairy is standing on a grassy hill overlooking the ocean in the far off distance. She's holding a single dandelion. This dandelion is special, each flower has a fairy hidden inside. As she delicately blows the dandelion, the fairies come to life flying around her. DreamWorks Animation Fine Art /How To Train Your Dragon

Over the last few months I've been working on a fantastic project with DreamWorks Animation Fine Art. The first project, How To Train Your Dragon turned out beautifully. I have to tell you, I'm a little bit in love with this movie. To be able to paint Hiccup and Toothless with my signature style was one of the most exciting and challenging projects I have ever worked on.

The results could not have been better with both original paintings selling within 48 hours of their release! Working with DreamWorks Animation Fine Art and the Sanders Art Studio is like being in a dream that I never want to wake up from! I am starting a new project and will have more details coming soon! It's such a sweet piece, she is standing on a grassy hillside with daisies growing all around, spring is just around the corner!. I think it's very inspirational because blue skies ahead to me means better opportunities not too far off in the distance. I hope you like it!
